Mission Statement

The Meigs County Sheriff's Office will consistently strive to maintain and promote a safe community and provide quality law enforcement for all the residents of Meigs County in a courteous and professional manner. 

Family Background

Son of Ivan and Evelyn Hysell Wood, have one brother, Rodney Wood and two sisters, Bonnie Wood Warner and Lora Wood Wolfe Bing. Sheriff Wood is married to Julia Houdashet Wood and have three children, Chelsey Wood Burton, Jordan Wood, and Olivia Wood. 

Educational Background

A 1975 graduate of Eastern High School; 1979 graduate of the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy; 1981 graduate of Ohio Wildlife Officers Training Academy; certified instructor for Archery in the Schools and Ohio Hunter Education Programs; and a 2012 graduate of Hocking College with a degree in Police Sciene.

Work Expierence

Lead Supervisor/Sergeant over 40 officers at the Bureau of Public Debt in Parkersburg, W.Va.; commissioned Police Officer with City of Belpre, 2011-Present; Wildlife Investigator for the State of Ohio ODNRDivision of Wildlife covering 19 counties in Southeastern Ohio, 2008-2010; Ohio Division of Wildlife Field Training Officer, Meigs County Wildlife Officer, 1981-2008; Meigs County Special Deputy, 1981-2011; Meigs County Deputy Sheriff, 1978-1981.
